Social Behavior Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Social Behavior - Essay Example 1 Age can affect the social behaviors of an individual. People of the same age group interact more freely than people of different age groups. Mostly they are found in the same social places such as school and social halls. They are also likely to behave in a similar way. This is because they have similar experiences at particular times and they have little to be ashamed of. In contrast, in a situation whereby a person is placed in the midst of people of a different age group, He/she may be unsociable and very uncomfortable as they may be having different interests and not much in common. It becomes very hard for such individuals to cope socially in an environment that does not favor them. Different people are of different economic status. This also determines an individual's social behavior. The various social classes will include the rich, the poor and the middle class, research has proved that on average individuals feel more comfortable and therefore more sociable while in put on the same environment with people of their social economic level. People of similar economic status have similar social behaviors. Usually, they attend the same social places such as schools. In this way, they are able to interact freely as there is no economic gap between them. Social economic status affect the level and quality of education People with high social economic power have a prestigious way of living and have high self-esteems and those with low social economic power have low self-esteems due to their poor way of living. This causes a gap between these two classes of people and hence makes it difficult for them to socialize. (Klemke, Hollinger and Kline, 1980) Different educational levels affect people's social behaviors. They reinforce social classes in the society. People of the same educational backgrounds are likely to interact freely. This is because they are usually found in the same social places including schools. They are also able to communicate effectively with each other. On the contrary, people of different educational levels may not be in positions to interact freely. There may be communication barriers. (Berger and Luckmann, 1966) Moreover, individuals of low Educational levels lack social acceptance and may face rejection in a society where most people are of high educational level. This may affect their self-esteems rendering it difficult for them to socialize.People's social behaviors are affected while in different ethnic groups and races. When they are in their own ethnic groups or races most people are very sociable. This is mainly enabled by their similarity in language, culture and customs. They are able to communicate freely with each other. On the other hand, if one is placed in an ethnic group that he/she does not belong to, one is likely to encounter problems and may not be in a position to socialize freely. Barriers such as language, tribalism or even racism are likely to be encountered. However, in due time an individual's behavior is likely to be assimilated, and he/she may end up aping a new style of living and may even end up with learning new languages. When a group of people abides to a particular religion, they are able to relate freely with ea

The First Time Essay -- essays research papers

The First Time Slush, Slush, Slush, "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" "Well, there goes another graceful one," I looked admirably down the slope, "How do they do that?" "With lots of practice?!" Veronica replied sarcastically. "No kidding!" I gave her a look. Then with a unsure voice I said, "I'm going to try it myself, wish me luck." "Break a leg?!" "Ha, Ha, very funny." Slowly, I crabbed walked up the slope. Shaking all over, I was afraid to look down. Yet, I still had the courage to stagger myself to the top. Feeling a little dizzy by the high altitude, I took a deep breath of the cold frost bitten air. Then without a second thought, I lowered my knees and gave it a quick push. "Ahhhhhhhh!" Oh my God, what have I put myself through. Is this what I really came here for? Why do I feel like I'm flying, like a 747, heavy but still floating in the air. Have I died and left my body? No, No, I'm to young to die. Give me another chance to live. Please, let me go. Suddenly, I felt myself swaggering. The air pressure pushing harder below me. No, No, I take it back, don't let me go. Thoughts that were racing through my mind were blown away by a sudden "Thud!" like all those times I've dived off a diving board with my belly down. "Where am I?" I whispered to myself, " Why is it so cold?" "Hey Jo! Get up!" "Uh?" "Hurry, before someone accidentally skis over y...

Relationship between Politics and Religion in India

Indian politics has an important relationship with Religion. Religion fulfills the role of an ideology in a situation of transition when there is a plethora of new demands and constant adjustments have to be made. Both Islam and Hinduism in the late nineteenth century were trying to accommodate the new demands. This ruptured their earlier accommodations and led to conflict with the necessity of a complex interaction between nationalism and Religion. This is where the clash started. India failed on this front leading to conflicts and division between two competing utopia visions. The clash of egos over basis and minor disagreements made this division inevitable. The importance of religion, in spite of such conflicts can be clarified in the words of Gandhiji who said that those who assert that Religion has nothing to do with Politics, have no understanding of either Politics or Religion. That the Hindu majority were more tolerant and absorbent of others’ viewpoint, is nothing new . The religion itself is distinguished because of its fundamental component of tolerance which separates it from other religion viewpoint.Anslie embree in his book on Utopias in Conflict states that â€Å"Tolerance is not merely an academic question. It is intrinsically linked with the minority. The Islamic community in India wanted neither to be absorbed or tolerated and this seems to have occurred to very few exponents of Hindu tolerance†. Tolerance is also a matter of perception and over the centuries as India met with three different civilizations, the society evaluated. The coming of Islam in the eighth century, to the major power at the center, in the form of nearly 500 years of their mainstay, did not change any fundamental value in the Hindu religion. The coming of the Portugese and the French also did not lead to any changes in our social structure, the reason being the apathy similar to the earlier Muslim period when views were articulated in a religious vocabulary. The coming of the British was different as â€Å"they did not articulate their views and attitudes of their culture in religious terms†. The Hindu intelligential were definitely more receptive to the cultural and religious ideas as contrasted by the ‘keep aloof’ behavior in response to Muslim, French and Portugese ideologies. However the elaboration of the national movement’s ideal by Gandhiji in â€Å"vocabulary of Neo-Hinduism† lay the seeds of religious conflict in India which led to separatism. One of the important omissions in this Neo-Hindu perception was its inability to comprehend the belief structure of Muslims and the differences with Hindus. Salvation in Hinduism is of an individual whereas the Muslims and Christians find their salvation as a part of a large religious community. The politics of the nineteenth century and the strength of nationalism has gone missing today but religion appears to be as strong as ever and a fundamental pillar in our politics.Secularism has been re-defined and pseudo-secularism seems to be the order of the day where massacre of the majority community hardly draws a reaction publicly except in private. The Politics of Religion is as strong as ever and there is only a change of perception. Our politicians never miss an opportunity to exploit the use of religion, be it the Hindu view or the Muslim angle and India politics would continue to use Religion and the Caste system for their survival.

How to Use T4 Slips to File Income Taxes

Employers prepare and issue the Canadian T4 tax slip or Statement of Remuneration Paid to inform each employee and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) how much the employee earned during the previous tax year. The document also records the amount of income tax that was withheld from pay. Employment income includes salary, bonuses, vacation pay, tips, honorariums, commissions, taxable allowances, the value of taxable benefits, and payment in lieu of notice. Youll typically receive three copies of a T4 tax slip—one to attach to your Canadian federal tax return, one to attach to your provincial or territory tax return, and one to keep for your own records. Youll also probably receive more than one T4 tax slip if you had more than one job. The back of each T4 slip explains each item on the document, including which items to report on your income tax return and where, and which items are for Canada Revenue Agency use only. Deadline for T4 Tax Slips T4 tax slips must be issued by the last day of February in the year after the calendar year to which they apply. For example, you should receive your T4 tax slip for 2018 earnings by February 28, 2019. Filing T4 Tax Slips With Your Income Tax Return Include copies of each T4 tax slip you receive when you file a paper income tax return. If you file your tax return electronically using NETFILE or EFILE, keep copies of your T4 tax slips with your records for six years just in case the CRA asks to see them. Missing T4 Tax Slips If you havent received a T4 slip, file your income tax return by the deadline anyway to avoid penalties for filing your taxes late. Calculate the income and any related deductions and credits you can claim as closely as possible based on the information you do have. Include copies of any statements or employment stubs you use to calculate your income and deductions as well as a note listing your employers name and address, the type of income you received, and whatever steps youve taken to get a copy of the missing T4 slip. Youre required to ask your employer for a copy of your T4 before filing your return,  so make sure to allow enough time to do this. Tax returns are due to the CRA by April 30 unless that day falls on a weekend or a holiday, in which case returns are due the following business day. For 2018 earnings, taxes must be filed no later than April 30, 2019. If you need a T4 slip for a previous tax year, try checking the My Account service or calling the CRA at 800-959-8281.
